I am a first generation Caribbean-American from Bloomfield, Connecticut and based in Los Angeles. I do a lot of things, but currently I focus on making films; directing, producing, writing, editing, and in 2021, I earned my MFA in Film Directing from CalArts. My work explores blackness, absurdity, plants/nature, and their relations to American Youth. For me, narrative storytelling is a means to inspire audiences through diversity and providing new ways of thinking.

Right now, I work with RootDown LA through Public Allies Los Angeles, as a horticultural apprentice, videographer/photographer, and social media content manager. RootDown LA is a beautiful community garden nurturing youth empowerment through education and healthy food ventures in South LA. Together, we are developing a documentary around the scope of their work and addressing food justice in LA.

Alongside this, I am also developing my next personal project, WANT + NEED. A film that will explore how the relationship between the media and advertising industries affects young black adults and their conquest to find meaning in their lives (producers and financiers welcomed!).

Much love,

Alex.

Currently: Content Manager, Horticultural Apprentice, Videographer + Photographer at RootDown LA; being more empathic today than I was yesterday; going for a walk some place somewhere.
